Simple Speed Reader Help

Created to aid my wonderful girlfriend with her studying.

Overview

Simple Speed Reader allows you to speed read anything you paste into it.

The average WPM ignores the pauses from punctuation. The actual WPM is the final speed including punctuation pauses.

Control

The space key will play and pause. The left and right cursor keys will move back and forward in the text.

You can also click the play and pause button with the mouse, and drag the progress bar to specific points.

Settings

You can customize many of the settings of the simple speed reader.

Speed: Slide the slider to change the speed.
Font: Choose from the basic built in fonts, or fonts from https://fonts.google.com , and change the size of the font.
Colors: Background and text. Yellow text on black background is a good combination!

Advanced Settings (under ...)

Padding: how much space to put above and below the reader.
Punctuation: How to calculate the short (comma) and long (. ; : newline) pauses. WPM/2 is a pause for 1/2 the current WPM.
Stats: Whether or not to show the current WPM.
: Delete your saved settings and revert to default.

Saving Settings

If you save your settings, they will be stored in a cookie in your browser and automatically loaded.

If you refresh the page, your browser will revert to your saved settings even if you made changes before pressing refresh.
